About me
I am an experienced Mental Health Occupational Therapist who has worked in clinical practice for the past 8 years. Mental health for me was where I feel most comfortable and found a place where I could develop my clinical skills and my identity through my work in this area. Supervision now has become an area I am passionate about and motivated to create better experiences for supervisees.
My experience
Current roles:
• Team Leader/Senior Occupational Therapist at Ability Action Australia (NDIS)
• Occupational Therapy Educator (G4)
• Private Clinical Supervisor
Previous roles:
• Acute Mental Health at Forensicare (Thomas Embling Hospital) and Mercy Health
• Community Mental Health with Royal Melbourne (Mid West Area)
• Mental Health and Addictions in Vancouver, Canada
• Community Care Unit with Royal Melbourne (Travancore)
• Clinician roles with MIND
My current role/work
I now work as an Occupational Therapy Educator and Team Leader with a primary focus on Early year Occupational Therapists. I use my knowledge of the public and private systems to help supervisee's navigate these complex systems and provide meaningful work that supports the clients and the Occupational Therapist themselves.
My training
2022 Clinical and Professional Supervision
• Completed a 2-day workshop by Michelle Bihary on ‘Professional Supervision’ and ‘Advanced Supervision’
• Completed Supervision competency course with OT Australia
2023 Group Reflective Practice Supervision
• Completed 2-day workshop by Bouverie Centre on implementing structured group supervision to health professionals
My approach to supervision
My approach is based on my own values and strengths of honesty, my love of learning and curiosity. I approach supervision sessions with the motto ‘Clear is Kind’ (Brené Brown). I ensure there is a level of psychological safety and I proactively ask the supervisee to recognise how they best receive feedback and acknowledge this as a fundamental part of the learning experience. I am genuine in my honesty as my aim is to provide clear information and collaboratively work together to develop the supervisee’s autonomy in managing challenges.
