About me

I have been an allied health professional and supervisor for over 20 years. Originally trained as a music therapist in the late 90s, I have worked clinically in several areas, including neurorehab, adult & child disability, paediatric hospital and general and forensic mental health. I developed a clinical interest in mental health in the mid 2000s, and subsequently studied for a Masters of Mental Health. As a graduate student studying music therapy, I realised that supervision was something extremely important and valuable to allied health professionals, and so I have pursued my interests in both supervision and mental health throughout my career.

My professional interests include interdisciplinary supervision, mental health support for professionals, and training for supervisors. The values that underpin my work in supervision and professional development are integrity, authenticity and collaboration. My practice is ethnicity, gender, sexuality, disability and neurominority affirming. Every effort is made to understand supervisees as individuals, accommodate their needs and be a good ally.

My experience

Senior Music Therapist - Mental Health Centre Penetanguishene (now the Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care), Ontario, Canada (2005 - 2006)

Music Therapy Manager - Peninsula Health Mental Health Service, Melbourne, Australia (2020 - 2022)

My current role/work

I currently operate my own private practice business, providing individual and group supervision, supervision training and professional development for all allied health professionals. Most of my work is online, however I provide in-person sessions, training and workshops as requested. I am also a Licensed Mental Health First Aid Instructor, and provide the two day Standard Mental Health First Aid course to groups, teams, organisations, and the general public.

My approach to supervision

The reason I work as a supervisor is because I believe that all allied health professionals deserve high quality support and supervision for their professional selves. As a supervisor I rely on the values of integrity, authenticity and collaboration in all of my interactions. I use a variety of supervisee led methods and approaches in my work, depending on what suits each supervisee - these may include strengths based, ethics centred, collaboration/learning focused, reflective practice, seven eyed supervision, compassionate care, post-humanistic ideas and trauma informed practice. I aim to provide a safe, collaborative learning space for supervisees to bring their challenges and celebrate their wins, to speak freely about their experiences and emotions, and to grow and develop as professionals and as people.
